PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Shots rang out at the parking lot of a Fred Meyer store Tuesday night, with shoppers nearby.
Witnesses said it all began on the sidewalk off the property when a man and woman began arguing. The argument spilled into the parking lot of Portland’s Hollywood District Fred Meyer store, when shots rang out.
“They came through the bushes,” said a witness of the man and woman arguing. “People that were walking through the parking lot all converged about the same time, and [the male suspect] yelled at them to go away and shot four or five rounds.”
Within minutes Portland officers responded to the report of gunshots heard in the 3000 block of NE Weidler Street. The Hollywood Fred Meyer store is at 3030 NE Weidler St.
Initially 12 emergency response vehicles were at or on-route-to the scene. “Officers in the area responded and located evidence of gunfire,” according to a PPB release, “but did not locate any victims or suspects.”
The Fred Meyer store was open at the time of the shooting, but no one was hit by any of the stray bullets.
