PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Multnomah County Chair Jeff Cogen is officially out of office.
His resignation took effect Monday.
Cogen announced he was stepping down earlier this month — weeks after admitting to an affair with another county employee, Sonia Manhas. She has since left her position.
Cogen’s former chief of staff, Marissa Madrigal, is expected to be sworn in as the new chair Tuesday morning.
The Oregon State Attorney General’s Office continues to investigate if Cogen used his office or influence to help Manhas get promoted.
