PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A woman found a half-naked stranger in her bedroom after she returned to her Southeast Portland home Monday afternoon.
Michelle Leeper told KOIN 6 News she came back to her home in the area of SE 25th and Pine and noticed a few things were different from the way she left them.
“I just started putting my groceries away and I went to walk to the bathroom,” said victim Michele Leeper, “and I noticed my bedroom door was closed and it wasn’t when I left.”
She threw the door open and found a man she described as being in his mid-40s lying on his back — in her bed — half-naked.
“I kind of froze and I asked him what he was doing here, like in not-so-pleasant words,” Leeper said. “He told me to be quiet and I said ‘I’m getting the neighbor and I’m calling the cops.'”
She screamed and ran for a neighbor’s apartment; the man in her bedroom ran off.
Police K-9 units tracked down a suspect and, after a brief pursuit, police stopped the man they believe was in Leeper’s bedroom. That man was taken into custody and interviewed by Portland burglary detectives.
Update: Late Tuesday he was identified by the Portland Police Bureau as 47-year-old Charles Phillip Wilson. He was charged with Criminal Trespass in the First Degree and Private Indecency, and booked into the Multnomah County Jail.
Leeper believes he got into her home through a slightly opened rear sliding glass door. She said she’ll be locking all of her doors, and her back gate, from here on out.
