WILSONVILLE, Ore. (KOIN) – A crash between a commercial truck and an SUV that was towing a boat blocked Interstate 5 near Wilsonville for more than two hours Tuesday morning.
Oregon State Police (OSP) reported that the crash occurred at 9:45 a.m. on I-5 southbound, two miles south of Wilsonville. A Chevrolet Suburban towing a boat was passing the semi-truck when it somehow collided with the truck, sending the boat crashing onto the freeway.
The driver of the semi was transported to Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
All southbound lanes were blocked at Boone Bridge, backing up traffic for miles. The freeway was not fully reopened until noon. Emergency responders also had to clear up a diesel spill from the truck.
What exactly caused the crash was not clear, OSP said. It was not immediately confirmed if any citations would be issued.
