PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A local charity could reap the benefits of a Sunday truck crash in Oregon’s Sherman County.

Oregon State Police report a California driver swerved to avoid several deer on Highway 97 early Sunday morning. The movement caused his truck to roll over — spilling hundreds of apples in a field.

Officials said the unopened boxes of apples will be given to charity — but they’re not saying which one.

As for the 47-year-old driver of the truck, he had some minor injuries. He was taken to a hospital in The Dalles, Ore., for treatment.
