2 tied up in NW Portland hotel robbery

(KOIN) – Police are searching for a masked man who robbed and bound two people at a Northwest Portland hotel and then escaped early Thursday morning.

Portland police report that the man entered the Silver Cloud Inn on Northwest Vaughn Street just before 5 a.m. and approached a hotel employee and an Oregonian newspaper delivery driver with a small box that he claimed was a bomb. After stealing cash from the victims, he tied them up and fled.

Responding officers searched the area with a K-9 unit but did not locate the suspect. He was described as African American, wearing a hockey mask and all black clothing. No surveillance photos were released.
