PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — One day before its official debut, TriMet riders were able to download and use their new mobile ticket app.

TriMet will debut its free mobile ticket app on Wednesday, allowing Android or iPhone users to buy their tickets anywhere at any time. But the app is already available at the app store.

The mobile tickets have security features and a QR Code for confirmation as a valid ticket.

Developed in a partnership with GlobeSherpa, the app promises a “secure payment system for credit/debit card information Platform for single rider or multiple riders purchases.”

TriMet officials said area riders are the first in the nation to use this kind of mobile ticketing app.
