Man fatally shot by Klamath Falls police

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) — Police in the southern Oregon city of Klamath Falls have fatally shot a man they say was suspected of stealing a car.

Klamath County District Attorney Rob Patridge said officers responded Tuesday to investigate a report of a stolen vehicle and a suspect who also had an outstanding felony warrant.

The district attorney says officers got into a confrontation with the man as they tried to arrest him and 52-year-old Matthew David Borner of Klamath Falls was fatally shot. No officers were hurt.

The officers involved are on paid leave while the shooting is investigated.

The Oregonian says court records show Borner had an outstanding parole violation warrant from an April conviction in Klamath County Circuit Court for possession of methamphetamine.
