PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A truck hauling hay caught fire on Washington’s State Route 14 westbound Tuesday afternoon.
“Watch for heavy smoke,” according to a WSDOT alert at 3:14 p.m. “Use caution and expect delays.”
The 40-foot flatbed truckwas loaded with hay traveling west on SR 14 when the load caught fire, Washington State Patrol reports.
SR 14 was closed in both directions between 27th Street and 32nd Street near Washougal, as crews extinguished the fully engulfed truck.
Traffic was impacted for about five hours. As of 7:40 p.m. the burn site had been cleared and SR 14 fully reopened.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. There were no injuries to the driver or emergency responders, according to WSP.
WSP also reported that “charges are pending.”
