(KOIN) — Investigators are trying to determine what sparked a fire that engulfed a hay barn in a rural area of Sherwood Tuesday morning.
The fire broke out before 4:45 a.m. at 17405 SW Swant Rd. Hillsboro Fire & Rescue (HF&R) crews arrived to find the 40-foot by 40-foot barn fully involved, with a great deal of hay inside fueling the flames.
It took firefighters about 40 minutes to bring it under control. There was propane tank inside the barn, but it did not explode, according to Bruce Montgomery, an HF&R spokesman. Crews remained on scene to monitor the barn for flare-ups.
There were no injuries.
An investigator was on scene speaking with the homeowner.
