VANCOUVER, Wash. (KOIN) — It’s back-to-school season and the Evergreen School District is once again Stuffing the Bus, bringing the community together in the process.
Two school buses are being filled with supplies — pens, paper, notebooks and more — in the parking lot of Spanky’s Consignment, 13503 SE Mill Plain Boulevard, through 6 p.m. Wednesday. School supplies also can be dropped off at the Burgerville across the street.
“We’re filling backpacks for elementary, middle school and high schools students,” organizer Park Llafet told KOIN 6 News. “It’s really important to let people know that all of the grades we’re hoping to help out.”
The Stuff the Bus event has helped a wide range of Evergreen Public School students over the past three years.
“It’s really great because we see a lot of families, and they bring their kids down, and it’s kids helping kids,” Llafet said.
The program also helps show kids how to give back and help each other in the process.
