PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A driver is lucky to be alive after his car rolled over and ejected him Wednesday morning in Southwest Portland.
The crash occurred at Southwest 49th Avenue and Palatine Street. The driver told witnesses he was late for work when he made a wrong turn.
Residents say drivers should slow down because the intersection is approximately five blocks from Portland Community College’s Sylvania Campus.
“We’re next to Portland Community College, and we get a rash of late kids going to school late,” neighbor Bill Bowers said. “So they take the 30-miles an hour and triple it. It seems like they’re doing 90, but they’re doing at least 50.”
The driver, who was not identified, was not hurt. Crews were able to quickly clear the scene.
