PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A man who reportedly fled after crashing his car into the Northeast Portland offices of an insurance business was caught moments later.
He was identified as 31-year-old Aaron Smith.
The crash occurred before 1 a.m. Wednesday in the 5200 block of Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, according to Portland police. Officers responded to the crash site and found the suspect vehicle near Northeast Mallory Avenue and Failing Streets within minutes. The building was located directly across from the Portland Police Bureau’s North Precinct.
The business sustained significant damage.
Smith was booked and released in the Multnomah County Jail on one count each of first-degree criminal mischief, failure to perform the duties of a driver resulting in property damage and reckless driving.
