GRESHAM, Ore. (KOIN) – A 46-year-old man will be arraigned Monday afternoon on allegations that he stabbed another man outside a convenience store this weekend in east Portland.
Francisco Lopez-Lopez remains lodged in the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of first-degree assault, carrying a concealed weapon and unlawful use of a weapon, court records show.
Portland police were called to the 7-Eleven at East Burnside and Southeast 187th Avenue at 9:51 p.m. Sunday to investigate a reported stabbing. When officers arrived, the 28-year-old victim, a Portland man, was found inside the store with Lopez-Lopez. The victim was alert and able to speak with officers who responded. The victim was transported by paramedics to a nearby hospital with a non-life threatening wound.
It’s not clear what prompted the stabbing, but detectives have said it does not appear to be gang-related. Police said they are not searching for any additional suspects.
The name of the victim has not been released.
Lopez’s bail set at $256,500.
