Stranded climbers rescued from Ore. ocean cliff

(KOIN) – A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter hoisted one woman to safety and helped two others climb out after they got stranded on a cliff at Cape Lookout overnight Thursday.

At about 10:40 p.m. Thursday the three people were reported stuck on the cliff about 70 feet above the ocean.

The Coast Guard dispatched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Astoria and a 25-foot response boat from Garibaldi. The helicopter lowered a rescue swimmer, who pulled the woman to safety just after midnight. The other two people then used the helicopter’s light to climb up on their own.

There were no reported injuries.
