FOREST GROVE, Ore. (KOIN) — It’s only been open a week, but Dream Girl Espresso is already the talk of the town as scantily-clad young women serve coffee with a smile – and not much else.
Bikini baristas are nothing new in the Northwest, but they are new to Forest Grove. Many people who live around Forest Grove are as determined to drive this new business away as the owner is to stay.
The Dream Girl Espresso drive-thru on 19th and Elm is just across the parking lot of a Forest Grove Plaid Pantry. Some of the townspeople are documenting their every move, and said they’ve caught the baristas wearing nothing but pasties over their breasts.
“They are selling sex, not coffee,” said Heather Boyd. “And it’s in the forefront of our kids’ faces. Our buses are going to be going through there in September and that’s really concerning to me.”
But owner Leah Sizemore is standing firm.
“We do not condone or support public nudity,” she told KOIN 6 News. “We’re within our legal limits. We know our constitutional rights, so we have a right to be doing this.”
Forest Grove police said they’re watching Dream Girl Espresso, but it’s a legal business. But opponents are gathering signatures and community support to take their case to the city.
Sizemore said business at Dream Girl Espresso is booming, and they’re determined to stay.
Both sides are expected to show up at the next city council meeting on Monday.
