Portland City Council to OK $15m for homeless

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — More than $15 million from the city of Portland’s general fund, grants and tax increment financing will be dispersed to 20 homeless groups.

Ordinance 721 designating this money is set for Wednesday’s Portland City Council agenda.

In part, it reads:

“..Funding is included in the City’s FY 2013-14 approved budget and will be available in PHB’s FY 2013-14 adopted budget in the amount of $15,768,128 through the General Fund (GF), Tax Increment Financing (TIF), Housing Investment Fund (HIF), Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), and federal Healthy Homes Production Grant funds…”

The money is slated to be divided between 20 groups to help the homeless:

— Salvation Army ($737,000)
— Transition Projects ($3,181,109)
— NAYA (MIIAC) ($342,000)
— Community Energy Project ($385,000)
— Unlimited Choices, Inc. ($315,000)
— Impact Northwest ($120,000)
— PCRI ($200,000)
— REACH CDC ($375,000)
