Man survives 100-foot-drop in paraglider crash

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man is alive but in serious condition after falling 100 feet in a paragliding crash.

James Carter, 55, was paragliding in the Santiam Pass, southeast of Salem, Ore., when it happened Sunday morning.

Oregon State Police reported Carter had just lifted off when his paraglider lost power.

Carter was taken to a hospital in Bend for treatment for his injuries.
