(KOIN) — A 59-year-old Canby man has passed away from his injuries following a crash near Woodburn last month that also claimed the life of his wife.

Teddy Gitts died July 13 at Oregon Health & Science University, where he had been in critical condition for several weeks. His wife, 57-year-old Deborah Gitts, died June 3 at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center.

On the afternoon of June 1, the Gitts were crossing the intersection of South Meridian Road and Highway 211, about three miles east of Woodburn, when a 2003 Dodge pickup truck collided into the driver’s side of their 2007 Dodge Caliber. According to Oregon State Police (OSP), the collision caused the Caliber to spin into a third vehicle, a 2009 Ford pickup truck.

A dog in the Gitts’ car was ejected and died at the scene. Teddy Gitts was driving the car, and his wife was a passenger.

The drivers of the Dodge pickup, 56-year-old Lennis Robinson of Molalla, and the Ford pickup, 62-year-old John Gubel of Keizer, were not hurt.
