MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — Medford police say a 43-year-old man phoned in a bomb threat to Wal-Mart this past week as a cover for stealing laptop computers, a DVD player and a phone card.

Donald Lee Anderson of Medford has been charged with theft, disorderly conduct, initiating a false report and a parole violation. He was arrested Thursday and booked into the Jackson County Jail.

Police said video surveillance and other evidence showed that Anderson stole items from the store both before and during Tuesday’s bomb threat.

They suspect Anderson of also phoning in bomb threats in May and June, but they have been unable to prove that he took any items during those incidents.
