PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A 34-year-old man is dead after he crashed his motorcycle into a Southeast Portland apartment home early Thursday morning.

The crash occurred at about 2:42 a.m. on Southeast Milwaukie Avenue, just south of McLoughlin Boulevard.

Portland police said the motorcyclist was traveling south on Milwaukie at high speed when he lost control on a corner, went about 100 feet off the road and crashed into an apartment home at 5248 SE Milwaukie Ave. The motorcyclist was ejected, and the 2007 Kawasaki came to rest after hitting a parked car.

The man, who was identified Friday as Damian Gerold Wyatt of Milwaukie, was pronounced dead at the scene. No one inside the home was hurt.

Police are unsure if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. The Portland police Major Crash Team is investigating. An autopsy is scheduled for later today.

A financial estimated of the damage to the home was not confirmed. Milwaukie Avenue remained shut down until about 6 a.m.
