DA: Warrenton fatal shooting was justified

(KOIN) — No charges will be filed in the case of an Astoria man who was fatally shot after forcing his way into a Warrenton apartment in May.

The Clatsop County District Attorney’s Office reported Thursday that following a two-month investigation it determined that the May 7 shooting of 39-year-old Bruce Ross Rogers was justifiable homicide.

The DA’s office stated that the victim shot Rogers in self-defense, believing that Rogers was committing and burglary and was attempting to assault the victim.

Rogers was shot after breaking into a bedroom where four residents had gathered to protect themselves from him. The four people included Rogers’ estranged 46-year-old wife and three teens. The apartment was located above a beauty salon

Warrenton is a coastal town of with a population of approximately 5,000.
