PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Police are searching for the suspect in a drive-by shooting that left one person shot in north Portland Tuesday night.

It happened near N. Foss Avenue and Houghton Street around 9:30 p.m.

“As officers were enroute, additional information was broadcast that the male victim was lying on the corner of North Alaska Street and Chautauqua Boulevard,” according to a Portland Police Bureau news release.

Neighbors described quite a frantic scene. The victim, later identified as 18-year-old Oscar Alvarez-Ramirez, was rushed to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. Police said Wednesday that he is expected to survive.

Three blocks were blocked off as Portland detectives gathered evidence including shell casings. Officers were at the scene until at least 11 p.m.

The suspect vehicle left the area heading east on North Alaska Street.

As of Tuesday, no suspects have been identified. Gang Enforcement Team detectives are investigating.
