PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Beau Rasmussen finished the Bay to Bridges Race in San Francisco on May 19. But he wasn’t seen after that.
Rasmussen, who had been working in California since 2011, had texted he became separated from his friends the day he disappeared.
His cellphone and passport were later recovered near Ocean Beach and his clothes were found in a pile about a quarter-mile away. The 2007 University of Oregon graduate’s body was never found and he is presumed drowned.
On Saturday, friends and family paid their final respects at a memorial service at the Madeleine Parish in Northeast Portland. It gave his loved ones a chance to celebrate his life.
“We know what happened,” his friend Justin Geny said. “But it feels like we can never be sure. But this definitely is something that’s brining closure to this whole event.”
