LONGVIEW, Wash. (KOIN) — A vacant house was damaged in an early morning fire in Longview near Oregon Way and Cypress Street.
Firefighters got the first call of the fire after 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning when a neighbor heard snapping and crackling. On the way to the area they noticed a large column of smoke indicating a working house fire.
Crews called the fire under control after battling it for 15 minutes. This is the second time in just over a month that the structure has caught fire.
Investigators are treating the fire as suspicious, initial evidence leads them to think that the fire started on the outside. The owner of the property said that the house has been vacant for several years and he plans to tear the structure down.
