Gang detectives arrested Dechavian Jabbar Parks on charges of attempted murder, first-degree rape, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful use of firearm and first-degree burglary.

Portland police report that sometime before 5:45 a.m., a man entered the 18-year-old victim’s home, which was unlocked with several other people sleeping inside, and sexually assaulted her. The victim eventually got away from him and went into her mother’s room. After waking up her mother, the two ran out of the house to a black SUV.

According to Portland police, as the SUV pulled away, the suspect jumped onto the back of the vehicle and held on. He eventually let go, retrieved a gun and fired a shot at the vehicle, breaking a back window in the area of Northeast 103rd Avenue and Sandy Boulevard.

The victim and her mother were not hurt. They fled to a family member’s home before returning to the scene and speaking to police.

Officers initially detained three of Parks’ associates, a woman and two teen boys, but later let them go before apprehending him later Thursday.

Parks is lodged in the Multnomah County Jail and was arraigned Friday. He’s being held on $560,000 bond.
