PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The man accused of fondling women’s hair, while having his bodily fluids come into contact with their hair, was in court Tuesday to hear his sentence, hear from victims and ask for help.

“I just want to say I’m sorry,” said 26-year-old Jared Walter. “I hurt a lot of people: the victims, my family, myself, their family. I want help — I just don’t know how to get it.”

Walter already pleaded to charges his bodily fluids came into contact with or he fondled the hair of at least three women on TriMet buses in May. This pleading came just weeks after being released from more than two years in jail — on charges he cut or glued women’s hair while also riding an Portland-area mass transit buses.

One victim, in court Tuesday, told the judge she “would just like him to serve time for what he did.”

And now Walter is indeed headed back to jail.

Ultimately Walter was sentenced Tuesday to two years for the crimes, which are misdemeanors. Walter also was given five years probation.

“It was difficult,” said witness Nicole Santamaria, “to see someone violate another person, in such a very public way, without remorse.”
