PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland’s naked bike ride broke a record this year — with more than 8,000 naked participants.

Organizers had hoped to break the world naked bike riding record for the Saturday night, June 8, ride.

The confirmed 2013 total, of a record 8,150 naked bike riders, is more than double the previous two years of the ride. During those years organizers said around 4,000 cyclists took off their clothes to join the route.

To get this year’s official count, organizers installed a video camera just past the starting point of the ride.

Volunteers then watched the recording and counted every naked body passing by.
