PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A bullet flew through a boy’s bedroom window in east Portland Sunday afternoon.

“Luckily he was on the other side of the house playing video games,” his mother, Stacy Willis, told KOIN 6 News.

Willis said she heard what sounded like firecrackers — and then saw her son’s window had a new hole in it.

If her son had been in the room, Willis said, the bullet was “right where his head [usually] is.”

Portland Police Bureau Spokesman Michael Marshman said police responded to the “shots fired” call at a 157th Avenue apartment complex Sunday afternoon. Marshman said no one was hit by a bullet.

E. Burnside Street at SE 157th Avenue was shut down as police investigated the shooting. The street was closed as of 4:45 p.m. Sunday, and remained closed until 6:45 p.m. Sunday.

Portland’s gang enforcement officers were called to the scene. Four people have been detained in this case.
