LINN COUNTY, Ore. (KOIN) — One man died and five people were seriously injured when two cars collided in Linn County Saturday afternoon.
The driver of a Toyota Camry was headed west on Lake Creek Lane when he didn’t stop at a stop sign at Highway 99E. The driver of a Dodge slammed into the Camry on the passenger side. The cars slid off the road and the Dodge caught fire.
The 70-year-old front seat passenger in the Toyota died at the scene. The driver and two other passengers were rushed to a hospital in RiverBend.
The driver of the Dodge and an adult woman passenger were taken to a hospital in Corvallis.
The investigation continues. On Sunday the driver of the Camry was identified by state police as Jon Nelson of Salem.
The man who died at the scene also was identified by OSP: 70-year-old Leopoldo Clemente.
