One arrested, 1 sought in Astoria motor theft

(KOIN) – Police tracked down one man and are searching for a second accused stealing a kicker motor off a boat in Astoria early Thursday morning.

According to Astoria police, just after 5 a.m. the two suspects were spotted by neighbors carrying something heavy on a trail.

Officer then learned that a kicker motor, valued at $6,500, had been stolen from a nearby resident’s boat. With the help of neighbors, police identified 30-year-old Blake Buckman of Astoria as one of the suspects.

As officers were investigating, the two suspects reportedly fled out of the back of Buckman’s home at 2963 Marine Dr. Officers recovered the motor, and then began a search for the two suspects.

Buckman was eventually caught and arrested. However, a K-9 search for the second suspect, whose name was not disclosed, was unsuccessful.

Buckman had been previously wanted on a felony warrant for violating the terms of his post-prison supervision. He was lodged in the Clatsop County Jail.
