PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A female jumped to her death from the Vista Bridge Wednesday.
Her body was found on the MAX tracks below the bridge in the Southwest Portland neighborhood of Goose Hollow Wednesday morning. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident, which occurred after 11 a.m., shut down the MAX in both directions. TriMet reported that Blue and Red lines were disrupted until about 1 p.m., when service was restored.
On Thursday, she was identified as a teen girl from Beaverton, Ore., according to the Portland Police Bureau. The Oregon State Medical Examiner reports her cause of death as “suicide.”
“Help is available for community members struggling from a mental health crisis and/or suicidal thoughts,” the bureau reported in a news release Thursday. “Suicide is preventable.”
