BEAVERTON, Ore. (KOIN) — Two days after Beaverton’s school levy passed, those in the Beaverton school district had about 500 more reasons to cheer.
It’s the highlight of the spring for kids in Beaverton‘s special-education program: their annual track and field day. Even without being the fastest runner or the highest jumper, there were victory smiles everywhere at the Beaverton High School track Thursday.
Those putting on the event raised more than a thousand dollars, so every child would go home with a medal.
“When we put medals over their heads, they are so excited,” said an organizer. “They wear their medals. I have a kid who wears their medal all year.”
