TIGARD, Ore. (KOIN) — Five men are in jail Tuesday night following a Tigard-based prostitution sting.
And what makes these cases different for Tigard police is that its undercover officers started their busts online.
Undercover officers placed an ad on popular websites offering escort services. Tigard police said the men responded to the ads and then showed up at a local motel — where they were promptly arrested.
Tigard police conducted the sting, they said, to help stop the demand for prostitutes — many of whom, they said, are forced into a life of sex slavery.
Though only five men were arrested during their sting, Tigard police told KOIN 6 News they received 75 calls from interested men within 24 hours.
