(KOIN) – Police are investigating the shooting of a man in the parking lot of a Northeast Portland apartment complex overnight Monday.

The Portland Police Bureau reports that officers responded to the 10500 block of Northeast Fremont Street at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday after witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots, and then saw several vehicles leaving the area.

Officers arrived to find not suspects or potential victims. Shortly after, however, officers learned that a gunshot victim, William Rasmussen, had checked into Portland Adventist Medical Center before being transported to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center.

Rasmussen sustained two gunshot wounds. He is expected to survive, Portland police said.

Rasmussen told officers he was in the parking lot when he was approached by the suspect and shot for no reason. He did not provide a motive for the shooting or a description of the suspect.
