(KOIN) – Five men were arrested at a Tigard hotel last week as part of a police sting targeting prostitution.
The men, accused of patronizing a prostitute for services, were arrested May 16 after detectives with the Tigard Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit placed two fake online listings advertising prostitution services.
The listings generated 75 calls, Tigard police said.
The operation stemmed from complaints from businesses, specifically hotels, regarding suspected prostitution activity in the area.
According to police, over the past 18 months the CIU has conducted a probe that resulted in the arrest of multiple people selling sexual services through websites such as BackPage.com and TNAboard.com.
The latest operation focused on customers of prostitution, police said.
The names of the suspects were not immediately disclosed.
