PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A “hidden camera” has been discovered inside a Sherwood Starbucks Coffee shop. And police tell KOIN 6 News it contained images and video of unsuspecting people using the unisex Starbucks bathroom.
On Monday afternoon the city of Sherwood sent out a news release asking for help identifying a man considered a “person of interest” in this case. The release included surveillance images from inside the coffee shop.
Regular customer Nena Urceil King said she recognized this person of interest.
“I just got this weird vibe when he walked in,” King told KOIN 6 News.
According to the city of Sherwood, the hidden camera was placed in the public restroom sometime before May 1. Starbucks employees alerted police on May 1.
Customers who have used the restroom now wonder if they were victimized. If so, where will the video end up?
“Just to have somebody so privately watching is horrifying,” said Nena, a Starbucks customer.
The “person of interest,” seen in the surveillance footage, is wanted to questioning. He is described as being between 48 and 55 years old, 6-feet to 6-feet-4, with graying hair, a medium build and no facial hair.
“Your hope,” a police spokesperson said, “is that behind closed doors you will be able to use the restroom in privacy.”
