TROUTDALE, Ore. (KOIN) — On April 30, Kelley Carroll was riding her bike near NE 257th and Powell Valley Road when she was hit by a car. She said she’ll never forget the man who came to her rescue — but she can’t remember who he is.

“All I can remember saying is, Sweet Jesus, I’m going to meet you today, and I thought I was dead,” she told KOIN 6 News. “I thought I was going to die that day.”

The first person to her side was the man who likely prevented her from lapsing into a coma as she laid badly hurt and helpless.

“I remember the impact hitting and it hurt so bad. I don’t remember the actual pain but I do remember feeling things breaking.”

She said a voice, then a face began helping her stay alive.

“He laid down right in front of my face and said, ‘My name is Neil, I’m a cyclist. They’re almost here.’ You know, I’d breathe and he’d say, ‘Open your eyes, keep your eyes open,’ and he proceeded to tell me everything that happened at the accident.”

Now recovering, she desperately wants to meet Neil. She only remembers his words and his eyes, and believes he is an angel who helped her stay alive.

“I want to give him a hug and let him know that in a moment like that when you feel so alone and so hurt and panicked and you don’t know what to do, someone is there to just say two words that might save your life.”
