CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — A man who’s already doing time for posing as a phony doctor in Portland still faces prosecution in Oregon.
In Benton County, 23-year-old Lucas Orline Ebert pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of writing two bad checks as down payment for $32,000 in Christmas decorations at his condominium.
The Corvallis Gazette-Times reports the charges date to 2010. Ebert appeared via video from the Washington County Jail, where he’s awaiting trial on forgery and theft charges.
Two years ago, Ebert gained notice when he was convicted of practicing medicine at Oregon Health & Science University without a license. Authorities said he used a doctor’s smock to pose as a surgeon and took several thousand dollars from a woman seeking gastric bypass surgery.
He was sentenced to three years.
