SALEM, Ore. (KOIN) — A team of law enforcement officers traveled this week to the Marion County town of Scotts Mills to search for Susan Powell, according to West Valley City Utah Dispatch
The team is from West Valley City Utah Police Department.
“We are looking for any piece of evidence, any tip, any clue as a result of the search,” West Valley City Utah Deputy Chief Mike Powell told KOIN 6 News, “that might lead us to a better understanding of where Susan is.”
The team is searching a remote area once rented by relatives of Josh Powell’s family, the landowner told KOIN 6 News. The heavily-wooded property is on South Butte Creek Road near Salem. It was a tip from Susan Powell’s relatives that led them to this rural section of Oregon.
They spent Tuesday and Wednesday combing the property. The Salt Lake City Tribune reports the search team consists of cadaver dogs. However, they’ve been on the ground for the past two days and have not found anything.
Susan Powell disappeared in December 2009 from her West Valley City, Utah, home. Her husband, Josh Powell, killed himself and his two sons in a Washington house fire in February 2012.
