CANBY, Ore. (KOIN) — A Clackamas High School graduate died and two other teens were hospitalized after the car they were in lost control and hit a power pole near Canby.

The crash around 11 p.m. Friday happened near Highway 170 and Aldercreek Lane.

The driver, 17, lost control on Highway 170 and hit a power pole, flipping the car onto its top. The driver and a 15-year-old in the back seat were taken to Oregon Health & Science University hospital for treatment.

A 19-year-old passenger, identified as Daniel Gonzalez, was flown to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. He later died from his injuries, Clackamas County deputies said.

According to Gonzalez’s Facebook page, he graduated from Clackamas High School in 2012.

The teens were heading to Molalla at the time. Authorities believe the underage driver had been drinking, but the investigation continues.
