BEND, Ore. (AP) — Flags at Oregon institutions are flying at half-staff Friday in honor of a Bend soldier who was killed in Afghanistan.
Gov. John Kitzhaber ordered the memorial to remember the service and sacrifice of Spc. Brandon Prescott.
The 24-year-old was killed Saturday, May 4, along with four other Fort Bliss, Texas, based soldiers when their vehicle was destroyed by an improvised bomb.
