MADRAS, Ore. (AP) — A not guilty plea was entered on behalf of a man accused of fatally shooting a fellow hunter near Madras on Sunday.

The Bulletin newspaper reports that 24-year-old Montana Marlatt appeared via video from the Jefferson County Jail and did not speak at Thursday’s arraignment.

Marlatt is accused of murder and manslaughter in the death of 19-year-old Devon Moschetti. Investigators say he used a shotgun to kill the teenager in front of two other people.

Moschetti and the two others planned to go rabbit hunting Sunday. On their way, they met Marlatt and invited him along. Investigators say they don’t yet know of a motive for the alleged murder.
