Crews battle Walker Road house fire, Sherwood brush fire

BEAVERTON, Ore. (KOIN) -– A house fire forced the closure of Southwest Walker Road in Beaverton Friday afternoon.

Just before 12:30 p.m., Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue (TVF&R) crews responded to 13860 SW Walker Rd. to find black smoke coming from a second-story window.

Crews had the fire extinguished by 1:15 p.m. TVF&R spokesman Will Peck confirmed that no one was home at the time, and there were no injuries. A dog was rescued by firefighters.

The cause is under investigation. A financial estimate on the damage was not disclosed.

Meanwhile, TVF&R crews were also battling a brush fire in the area of 18636 SW Holznagel Rd. in Sherwood. That fire broke out before 12:19 p.m. It was brought under control by about 1 p.m., TVF&R said on Twitter. Details of that fire were not immediately confirmed.
