LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. (KOIN) — Oak Creek school in Lake Oswego was locked down during a “police action” in Westlake Park Wednesday afternoon, according to the school’s Twitter feed.
A parks employee and another witness reported hearing something that sounded like shots fired. Police have so far found no indication of actual shots being fired, and have received no reports of shooting victims.
Police are saying they’re now looking into whether the noise could have come from fireworks.
All of the students are safe.
Police asked for a lockdown at Oak Creek Elementary, which is near the park. Two other schools also went into lockdown.
Lake Oswego High School buses headed to the Westlake area were returned to Lake Oswego High, according to Lake Oswego Schools. The Lake Grove buses for the Westlake were being held at Lake Grove.
As of 3:47 p.m. Lake Oswego Police Sgt. Tom Hamann told KOIN 6 News police action was “fizzling out.” As such, all three schools have been released from lockdown status.
