Portland police reported Wednesday that an autopsy conducted by the Oregon Medical Examiner’s Office determined that 33-year-old Dixiang Huang died of homicidal violence.

Police initially responded to the residence on a reported assault with a weapon, according to emergency dispatchers.

Officials, citing the on-going nature of the investigation, did not disclose the details of the incident, or whether any suspects were in custody. However, Portland police stated that they believed there was no further risk to the neighborhood in connection with Huang’s death.

The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office sent a prosecutor assigned to the Domestic Violence Unit to assist with the investigation, officials on scene said.

Homicide detectives were seen canvasing the neighborhood talking with people who live in the immediate area.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, homicide detectives and criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division are responding to conduct a death investigation, Sgt. Pete Simpson said.

A neighbor said he was told by police that there was no threat to his safety.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Portland police Detective Mark Sponhauer at 503-823-0416.
