PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Portland Timbers player was questioned after an alleged rape following the team’s victory in Kansas City this past weekend.
The CBS affiliate in Kansas City confirmed with police that the case involved a Timbers player. No charges have been filed and the player, who KOIN 6 News is not naming, has been released after police questioning.
According to the police report, a woman met a man at a bar in a hotel after the game was over in the early hours of Sunday morning. When the bar closed, the woman told police she agreed to go back to the hotel with the man — but told him she did not want to have sex.
The woman admits to “making out” with the player and admitted willingly performing oral sex, but claimed things went too far.
The police report states she got dressed and took a cab to her home and texted her cousin about what happened. Her cousin then took her to the police station to file a report.
In a statement released Monday evening, the Portland Timbers said, “There are no criminal charges filed against any of our players. The club will not be commenting further at this time.”
