BEAVERTON, Ore. (KOIN) — Southridge’s Reza Aleaziz (al-ee-uh-zeez) strikes an imposing figure on the mound.
This past fall he gave up a good gig quarterbacking the Southridge football team to focus on baseball. Halfway through the season he just had to get back out on the mound.
“I really wanted to play,” he said. “I didn’t really like to be watching in the stands … I didn’t really want to have that regret.”
He helped lead the ‘Ridge to the state quarterfinals and, five months later, it’s all baseball for him. Behind such seniors as Aleaziz and Jacob Zanon, the Southridge Skyhawks reeled off seven straight wins.
And they believe they’re in the title hunt.
“That’s all a dream for this team,” Southridge High Senior Jacob Zanon told KOIN 6 News. “And I think it’s possible too.”
With Reza on the bump for the big games, teammates are rallying.
“He doesn’t like to lose,” said player Tanner Green.
