Two men are facing charges in connection with a rollover crash that killed one teen and injured several others in a rural area near Estacada last month.
Michael Wu with the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that 19-year-old Joseph William Childs was arraigned in Clackamas County Circuit Court Monday on one count of second-degree manslaughter, five counts of fourth-degree assault and a single count of driving under the influence of intoxicants.
Twenty-four-year-old Sean Michael Reck was arraigned on two counts of furnishing alcohol to minors. Both were arrested Monday, according to Clackamas County Jail records.
On the night of March 30, 17-year-old Nicholas Portis of Milwaukie was killed and five others were injured when a Toyota 4-Runner they were riding in rolled over on a U.S. Forest Service Road. The group was returning from camping in the woods. Childs, the driver of the SUV, was among those injured.
The group had reportedly been drinking prior to the crash.
Childs and Reck were indicted by a grand jury last week, The Oregonian reported.
