The boy is believed to have been shot inside a home in the 10000 block of Main Street NE in Donald, Ore.

Authorities aren’t yet identifying the type of firearm used. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office reported Sunday that “no suspects are being sought in connection with the child’s death.”

“Once the investigation is complete,” the Marion County Sheriff’s Office reports, “Marion County Detectives and the District Attorney’s Office will review the investigation to determine whether a crime occurred.”

On April 14 a man’s handgun-holstering practice killed a 9-year-old girl in another Oregon town, Gladstone. That gun also went off inside a home.

In the Gladstone shooting, the bullet flew through a wall out into the backyard — striking 9-year-old Shayla at least 40 feet away. She too died at the scene. Oregon City police did not immediately confirm if the man, identified as the girl’s mother’s boyfriend, would face criminal charges.
